Gay... Christian... Comedian...
Those three words, hardly sum up the somewhat turbulent life of Bryan Emler. Born in Coshocton, Ohio in 1971, Bryan lived his first 35 years in Ohio. During his time in Ohio, Bryan amassed quite the resume.
A dream of wanting to become an entertainer, Bryan received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ashland University, where he appeared in over 20 productions. Once graduating, Bryan became a stand-up comedian, and soon began touring comedy clubs and showrooms across the US.
During his years as a stand-up comedian, he appeared in the movie Seabiscuit, on NBC-TV's The Caroline Rhea Show and soap opera Santa Barbara, and in Judy Carter's book, The Comedy Bible and Thomas Brown's FROM THE STAGE TO THE STOVE.
Somewhat on top of the world, Bryan's life would soon take a nose dive. His relationship of 8 years ended, and so did his spark to continue doing stand-up comedy. He was left, alone, and 315 pounds. After seeing a picture of himself with actress Sharon Gless (Queer As Folk), Bryan was devastated to learn that he was fat.
Vowing to never perform again at that weight, he stopped performing and took regular paying day jobs to try and pay his bills, and joined a gym to lose weight.
During his weight loss journey, Bryan was asked to teach fitness classes, and become a certified personal trainer. He then when on to lose over 100 pounds, and own his own small fitness center in Sun City West, Arizona.
When the economy took a nose dive in 2009, the building that housed Bryan's fitness center was sold, and once again, Bryan found himself with no where to turn.
After 5 years away from comedy, Bryan has finally put new shows together, and is stepping out on faith to bring the shows to a whole new audience.
